2008 macbook hard drive replacement5/5/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not afraid of busting open my computer, and I've done a lot of research, but I'm concerned that if my data is corrupted, putting it on a new hard drive is going to render that hard drive useless. I have purchased the OWC Express USB 2.0 + 480GB Mercury Electra 3D SSD and it should be arriving later this week. ![]() Plus, it would be nice to have a "backup" computer when I'm able to purchase a newer MBP. I know the "best" choice is to purchase a newer model, but I really need this guy to run for about 2 more months. The most recent time (last night) most of the errors that were corrected were "incorrect file block count" - I thought I took a photo, but I didn't.Īfter running Disk Utility, I got the "Disk appears to be OK" message. I've run Disk Utility and repaired it several times, which works for a few days/week. Lately I've been having hard drive errors - freezing, spinning rainbow wheel and when I ran Disk Utility I got the "drive is corrupted" message. I back up regularly, use Disk Utility to scan and repair, and upgraded to 4GB memory (Crucial) a few years ago. I have a 15-in Late 2008 MacBook Pro that has been a great machine for 8 years. ![]()
